Welcome to SPEQeez. By using our services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.
1. General Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of SPEQeez's lens reglazing, repair, and related optical services ("Services"). By placing an order, you accept these Terms in full.
2. Services Offered
SPEQeez provides:
- Prescription lens reglazing (varifocal and single vision)
- Frame repairs and adjustments
- Lens replacements and upgrades
- Optical coatings and treatments
3. Frame Risk & Liability
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Frame Damage Risk
You acknowledge and accept that there is an inherent risk of damage or breakage to your frames during the reglazing or repair process.
While we take every reasonable care when handling your frames, the reglazing process involves:
- Removal of existing lenses
- Heating, bending, or manipulation of frame materials
- Insertion of new lenses which may require frame adjustment
SPEQeez will not be held liable for:
- Frame breakage during lens removal or insertion
- Damage to aged, brittle, or previously damaged frames
- Cracking, warping, or discoloration of frame materials
- Damage to decorative elements (crystals, embellishments, plating)
- Breakage of rimless or semi-rimless frames (higher risk)
Higher Risk Frames: Certain frame types carry elevated risk, including:
- Rimless and semi-rimless frames
- Frames over 5 years old
- Acetate frames showing signs of age or stress
- Previously repaired frames
- Designer frames with decorative elements
We strongly recommend: If your frames have significant sentimental or monetary value, consider purchasing new frames with lenses instead of reglazing.
3.1 Frame Inspection
Upon receipt, we inspect all frames for pre-existing damage. If we identify frames that are at high risk of breakage, we will:
- Contact you immediately via email or phone
- Provide photographic evidence of the condition
- Offer you the option to proceed at your own risk or cancel the order with a full refund
3.2 Frame Breakage During Service
If your frames break during the reglazing or repair process:
- We will notify you immediately
- We will provide photographic evidence
- You will receive a full refund for the service
- Your frames will be returned to you (even if broken)
- SPEQeez is not responsible for the replacement cost of the frames
4. Prescription Accuracy
You are responsible for providing an accurate, current prescription.
- Prescriptions must be dated within the last 2 years
- You must provide a clear, legible copy or photo of your prescription
- We are not responsible for errors arising from illegible or incomplete prescriptions
- If you manually enter your prescription values, you are responsible for accuracy
- We reserve the right to contact you or your optician to verify unclear prescriptions
4.1 Prescription Verification
For safety reasons, we may decline to process prescriptions that:
- Are unusually high or unusual values without verification
- Show signs of alteration
- Are expired or undated
5. Optical Measurements
5.1 Varifocal Measurements
For varifocal lenses, accurate optical center positioning is critical. You agree to provide:
- For existing varifocal wearers: Your existing frames with varifocal lenses installed, OR
- For new varifocal wearers: A clear photograph of yourself wearing the frames with a credit card reference as instructed
Incorrect measurements may result in unusable lenses. We are not liable for measurement errors arising from inaccurate photos or information provided by you.
5.2 Single Vision Measurements
For single vision lenses, you agree to provide:
- For existing prescription lens wearers: Your frames with current prescription lenses, OR
- For non-prescription lens wearers: A measurement photo as instructed
6. Payment Terms
- Payment is required in full at the time of order
- Prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable
- We accept payment via Stripe (credit/debit cards)
- Payment is processed securely by Stripe; we do not store card details
- All prices are subject to change without notice (your order price is locked at checkout)
7. Turnaround Time
Standard turnaround: 7-10 working days from receipt of your frames
- Turnaround begins when we receive your frames, not when you place the order
- Complex prescriptions or specialty lenses may take longer
- We will notify you of any delays
- Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees
- We are not liable for delays caused by courier services, prescription verification, or unforeseen circumstances
8. Shipping & Returns
8.1 Sending Frames to Us
- You are responsible for securely packaging and shipping your frames to us
- We recommend using tracked, insured shipping
- SPEQeez is not liable for frames lost or damaged in transit to us
- Include your order number and contact details in the package
8.2 Return Shipping
- We ship completed orders via Royal Mail Tracked 48 (UK) as standard
- Upgraded shipping options available at checkout
- We are not liable for frames lost or damaged by the courier after dispatch
- Insurance is your responsibility if you require coverage beyond standard carrier limits
9. Returns, Refunds & Warranty
9.1 Right to Cancel
You may cancel your order for a full refund if:
- We have not yet received your frames
- Work has not yet commenced on your lenses
Once lens production has begun, the order cannot be cancelled.
9.2 Defective Lenses
If your lenses are defective (scratches, incorrect prescription, coating defects), we will:
- Remake the lenses free of charge, OR
- Provide a full refund at your request
You must report defects within 30 days of receiving your glasses.
9.3 Non-Adaptation to Varifocals
Varifocal lenses require an adaptation period (typically 1-2 weeks). We cannot offer refunds for:
- Difficulty adapting to varifocals (this is normal)
- Preference for your old prescription
- Change of mind after receiving lenses
If you are a first-time varifocal wearer experiencing adaptation issues, please contact us for advice.
9.4 Warranty
Our lenses carry a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, including:
- Coating defects (peeling, crazing)
- Lens delamination
- Manufacturing errors
The warranty does NOT cover:
- Scratches from normal wear and tear
- Damage from improper cleaning or storage
- Damage from dropping or impact
- Frame damage or breakage
10. Repairs Service
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Repair Risk & Limitations
Frame repairs carry significant risk of failure and further damage. By requesting a repair, you acknowledge and accept these risks.
10.1 Types of Repairs Offered
SPEQeez offers the following repair services:
- Soldering (metal frames) - broken bridges, temples, hinges
- Hinge replacement and tightening
- Nose pad replacement
- Screw replacement
- Minor acetate repairs (limited success rate)
- Temple arm straightening and adjustments
10.2 No Guarantee of Success
You acknowledge that repair success is NOT guaranteed. Many factors affect repairability:
- Frame age: Frames over 3-5 years old are more brittle and likely to fail during repair
- Material condition: Aged plastic/acetate becomes brittle and may crumble
- Previous repairs: Frames repaired before are weaker and more likely to fail again
- Extent of damage: Severely damaged frames may be beyond repair
- Frame design: Some designs cannot be structurally repaired
- Material type: Some materials (e.g., carbon fiber, wood) cannot be effectively repaired
10.3 Cosmetic Results
Repairs are rarely invisible. You acknowledge that:
- Solder joints may be visible as slight bumps or color differences on metal frames
- Glue or adhesive repairs may show residue or discoloration
- Replacement parts (hinges, nose pads, screws) may not exactly match original parts
- Color matching is not guaranteed (especially on colored or coated frames)
- Polishing may be required, which can affect surrounding finish
- Designer logos or decorative elements near repair sites may be affected
10.4 Structural Integrity & Durability
Repaired frames are inherently weaker than original frames. You acknowledge:
- The repaired area will be a weak point and may break again
- Stress may transfer to adjacent areas, causing new breaks
- We cannot guarantee how long a repair will last
- Repaired frames should be handled with extra care
- Warranty does not apply to repaired frames (see section 10.8)
10.5 Inspection & Quotation Process
Our repair process:
- You send us your frames with description of damage
- We inspect within 2 working days of receipt
- We provide a free quote via email, including:
- Repair cost estimate
- Likelihood of success (if uncertain)
- Expected cosmetic outcome
- Estimated turnaround time
- You approve or decline:
- Approve → We proceed with repair
- Decline → Frames returned for £5 inspection fee
- If repair deemed impossible → Frames returned free of charge
10.6 Failed Repair Attempts
If your frames break or are damaged during the repair attempt:
- We will notify you immediately with photographic evidence
- You will NOT be charged for the repair service
- Your frames will be returned to you (even if broken beyond the original damage)
- SPEQeez is NOT liable for the replacement cost of the frames
- You will only pay return shipping costs (if applicable)
By approving a repair quote, you accept the risk that the frame may break during the repair process.
10.7 Repair Pricing
- Quotes are provided after inspection - prices vary by repair type and complexity
- Typical range: £15-£45 for most repairs
- Complex repairs or precious metal frames may cost more
- Quote is valid for 14 days
- Payment required before repair work begins
- If repair fails, full refund provided (frame returned)
10.8 Repair Warranty
Limited 30-day warranty on repairs:
- If the exact same repair point fails within 30 days, we will re-repair free of charge OR provide a full refund
- Warranty does NOT cover:
- New breaks in different locations
- Damage from dropping or mishandling
- Normal wear and tear
- Further damage to already-weakened frames
10.9 Repairs We Cannot Perform
We cannot repair:
- Frames with extensive cracking or multiple break points
- Completely shattered acetate frames
- Carbon fiber, wood, or composite material frames (generally not repairable)
- Frames with missing pieces that cannot be replaced
- Branded designer frames where repair would affect authenticity markings
- Frames where structural integrity cannot be restored safely
If we assess your frame as unrepairable, we will notify you and return it free of charge.
10.10 Your Responsibilities
When sending frames for repair:
- Package securely to prevent further damage in transit
- Include all broken pieces (even small fragments can help)
- Provide clear photos and description of damage
- Include your order/reference number and contact details
- Use tracked, insured shipping (SPEQeez not liable for items lost in transit to us)
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- SPEQeez's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for the service
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages
- We are not liable for loss of use, loss of profits, or personal injury
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud
12. Data Protection & Privacy
We collect and process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR. Your data is used solely to:
- Process your order
- Communicate with you about your service
- Comply with legal obligations
We never share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
13. Intellectual Property
All content on the SPEQeez website, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of SPEQeez and protected by UK copyright law.

15. Governing Law

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
